Fuzzy Radio x (09/07/28)

A king NEEDS only for a family to rule over, or a king he will not be. God created man… a weak and easily misguided creature with the incredible capacity for choice. Choose we not He, then about our merry way we go… neither wanting for a ruler other than that which offers us the most treats… the God-shaped hole in our heart filled with honey which is sweet in our mouth, yet sours our stomach. This is the risk that a true God of love makes. He gives his subjects the ultimate consideration: I am YOUR God, but not by the whip! You may fill your God-shaped hole with castles and clothes, with distractions and finery. But it is, as always, a choice. So our God, omnipotent, lays His force down benign… and awaits… will he be the king of one, or of two? No greater love could a Lord have this this: that he might give man the choice to love him back, or decline.

Is the notion that God may have need of man incongruous with the concept of His completeness. James attempts to counter an argument put forth by noted philosopher, theologian, and New Testament historian, William Lane Craig. Ok. He knows he’s not going to be able to out-debate WLC. James trips getting out of bed in the morning, let alone his frequent bouts of tripping over his own words.
